A Long Post, But An Important One.

The post I made last Thursday prompted the following comment from fellow blogger, Woodwhisperer. It brings up a point that I've encountered a few times: why is it necessary to learn PSYCH-K in workshops instead of out of books, which would be far more affordable.

I posted the comment at the Google "Everyday PSYCH-K®" group where the experts could respond. Elizabeth Powers, a Certified PSYCH-K® Instructor, wrote a better answer than one I would have come up with. You can read it yourself after Woodwhisperer's message:

"Hi Bill

OK, Psych-K works. Lots of people say so.

I am a survivor of terminal cancer and a number of near

death experiences have given me a new perspective on

life. I am brilliantly happy to be alive and hopelessly

hopeful for the future.

Psych-K interests me because I would like to compare

it to what has made the profound changes in my

perception of life. It seems it will be a long time before I

learn anything about Psych-K, however, because one

must attend workshops to learn the "details" and I have

neither the money (on disability pension with a young

family), the immune system (I do not have an immune

system and must be extraordinarily careful in public) or

the energy (I am mostly bedridden). Pretty much all my

information comes from reading and it seems Psych-K

cannot be learned from reading. Hmmmmmm.

I am somewhat suspicious of Psych-K being primarily a

new age money making scheme because I must attend

workshops which cost much more than a book. Oh well.

Maybe in another life.

There is never enough good work in the world so if a

few people make a few bucks spreading beliefs which

are balanced and empowering and promote peace and

love, who am I to argue?

All the best."

And here's Elizabeth's reply:

"I appreciate the comments of the person who wrote on the blog. It
must be frustrating being in that situation and unable to attend.

Rob, the founder of PSYCH-K has always held that PSYCH-K needs to be
taught in person and in a classroom. Rob views the transmission of
this information as sacred. He is very concerned that the
transmission of PSYCH-K remains pure. This is why all of his
instructors must go through a rigorous training to make sure that
PSYCH-K is communicated clearly so that its original transmission is
kept.

In a workshop situation, the instructor can answer questions and also
watch how each student is doing the process to assure that both the
understanding of the process and implementation of it are correct and
true to the original form. PSYCH-K is so much more than a
technique. It is a process that he feels strongly can only be
conveyed properly through direct contact. He feels guided to have it
implemented in this way and keeping PSYCH-K pure is essential so that
its power is maintained.

I hope this helps with the understanding. I know it can be
frustrating for folks who can not attend directly due to
circumstances such as described below.

Warmly,

Elizabeth Powers
Certified PSYCH-K Instructor"

All I have to add is this: A few years ago a friend of mine was trying to learn how to speak German. He was picking up the meanings of the words and the proper grammar all right, but his pronunciation was terrible! It turned out that the reason for this is that he was trying to learn exclusively from books. Books are great, but sometimes they aren't enough all by themselves.
